Beorn;
Beorn; Was a Skin-changer of the Vales of Anduin and Thrived around 3rd age 2941; and died some time before 3rd age 3018. He was the founder of the Beornings and was known as the "warrior" or the "bear". He dwelt near the western eaves of Mirkwood, who could take the form of a Man or a huge black bear. He played a great part in the victory over the Goblins at the Battle of Five Armies. In terms of technicality, Tolkien makes it clear in his letters that despite his remarkable qualities, Beorn was nonetheless a Mortal Man. Assuming that his lifespan was typical of ordinary Men, it's unlikely that he survived much beyond 3rd age 3000. The etymology of Beorn's name is interesting. The Old English word originally meant 'bear', but evolved over the centuries to the point where it came to mean 'warrior'. So, Beorn's ability to transform from a bear to a man echoes the linguistic development of his name. I love this character in the Legendarium by the way. #tolkien #thehobbit #jrrtolkien#tolkienologist #arda #mirkwood #arda #letstalkarda#beorn #lotr #bear #middleearth

Battle of the Hornburg;
Battle of the Hornburg; Happened on the night of March 3 & the 4th in 3rd Age 3019. It happened in the great coomb, and the caverns behind it, that lay in the northern valleys of the White Mountains(Ered Nimrais).
Erkenbrand was defeated at the Second Battle of the Fords of Isen, and his men scattered across the plains. After hearing the news of the defeat, Théoden diverted to the defensive position of Helm's Deep. The armies of Saruman traveled from the Fords, besieging Helm's Deep on the night of March 3rd. Then Erkenbrand's men, gathered by Gandalf, rode to the relief of Théoden, and Saruman's forces were defeated and the Rohirrim had the victory.(I Love the movie adaptation though.)

Door Of Night; Was the gateway to the Timeless Void and was created during the First Age; and no longer present in the World after the Downfall of Númenor in II 3319. It is located in the extreme west of the World. The Door Of Night was a guarded portal in the distant West of the World, through which Morgoth was cast after his defeat in the War of Wrath. Its origins are unclear: according to some accounts, it was made by the Valar as a passage for the Sun, which would return into the World through the Gates of Morning in the east. According to others, though, it was made expressly as a gateway through which to expel Morgoth. The Door of Night was guarded by Eärendil, bearing his Silmaril aloft in his shining ship Vingilot. #tolkien #thesilmarillion#jrrtolkien #letstalkarda #lore #fantasy #arda#cosmologyofarda #melko

Following this, Niphredil and Elanor bloomed no more. #arda #letstalkarda#tolkien #lotr #thesilmarillion #middleearth #doriath#Neldoreth #lorien #rotk #fotr #lordoftherings #idril#jrrtolkien #ea #eru #elessar #flowers
The Master Stone; The great Seeing Stone that stood beneath the Dome of Stars in Osgiliath. It was the chief of the palantíri of Middle-earth, and had power over the other Stones (it is known, for example, that it had the unique ability to observe conversations between the users of other palantíri). When Osgiliath was besieged by Castamir in III 1437, the Tower that held the Stone of Osgiliath was broken, and the Master Stone was lost in the Anduin. #palantíri # Osgiliath #lotr #tolkien#letstalkarda
Tol Eressëa; Was formed in the destruction of the Lamp Illuin in very ancient times. It is located originally in the middle of the Great Sea, but eventually anchored off the eastern coast of Aman. It was the Lonely Isle of the Elves of Aman, on which Ulmo brought the Elves to Valinor long ages before the rising of the Sun and Moon, and on which many still dwell within sight of the Blessed Realm.#TolEressëa #aman #valinor #elves #teleri #noldor#tolkien #jrrtolkien #arda #letstalkarda #ulmo#lonelyisle #thesilmarillion
